The Vesuvio Wine Consortium
The Vesuvio Wine Consortium was established on 07/26/2007, in 2015 it was recognized by the Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies, with Ministerial Decree n. 45784 dated 24.06.2015, and was given the task of promoting, enhancing and looking after the interests related to the DOP denomination "Vesuvio" and the "Pompeiano" IGP.
The Vesuvio Wine Consortium is a cultural hub, between territory and production system, propulsive element of the network between companies, and the open challenges on the value, authenticity and distinctiveness of the Vesuvius area.
The most important role of the Vesuvio Consortium is to implement brand policies through the strategic tools of valorisation, promotion and protection, and supervision at the stage of trade.
Brand policies are collective actions carried out by groups of agricultural producers for a product or class of homogeneous products, with the aim of enhancing their peculiar qualities, deriving from the geographical areas of origin or from the use of certain factors and / or methods of production.
The promotion is a fundamental success factor, it is the necessary tool to communicate to existing and potential consumers, information on the characteristics of the products marked by the trademark-names, which therefore have a double value: they guarantee a certain type of product made in a certain way and on the other they have an informative, communication value.
The consortium has 114 members, divided into the categories winegrowers, winemakers and bottlers.
In particular, the representation of the company, in terms of certified quantity, is 70.63% for the DOP Vesuvio, and 81.00% for the Pompeiano IGP (data from the Agroqualità SPA control and certification body).
